Dear Oliver,
Happy 6th birthday, my sweet boy! What an incredible year it’s been watching you grow and discover new things every day. You’re growing up so quickly, and I’m amazed by all the things you’ve accomplished this year—and all the big dreams you’re already working toward!
You’re so smart and creative, always coming up with new ideas, building things, and thinking of fun projects. I love hearing you talk about running your own ski resort, building a barn on a farm, and even planting a garden to sell vegetables! You crack us up when you try to find any way to make a buck off of me or Dad. Trying to get us to buy a sticker for 10 cents (sometimes 10 dollars - you run some pretty expensive shops!) or buy a book from your bedroom that we already bought for you but you insist because it’s now in your “store”. You’re like a little entrepreneur in the making, and I can’t wait to see where all of these ideas take you.
One of the things I admire most about you is your kindness and sensitivity. You’re always thinking of others, like when you grab a snack for your sister before you even grab one for yourself. That’s such a loving thing to do, and it shows just how big your heart is.
You also have a fierce determination, and it’s so inspiring to see. I know you’re planning to start climbing the 4,000-footers in New Hampshire this summer, and I believe in you—you’re going to reach those goals one step at a time. I’m so proud of your adventurous spirit and how you set your sights on something and work toward it.
I love how curious you are about the world. You’ve always had a love for reading and soaking in new information. You could talk about space and scary stories for hours, and I’m amazed by how much you remember and share with us.
You’re such a joy to be around, full of energy, laughter, and fun. Your boy humor is contagious, and you know how to bring smiles to everyone around you. But above all, you’re so sweet and loving, and I feel lucky every day to be your parent.
I can’t wait to see what this next year brings for you. I know you’ll keep surprising me with all your creativity, kindness, and determination. Thank you for being such an incredible son. Your dad and I love you more than words can say, and we are so proud of the amazing person you’re becoming.
