So it comes as no surprise that the summer ended quicker than it began. We had so many fun adventures this summer that kept us very busy (on top of the every day chaos of having two little kids). We had lots of fun with family and friends...Avery got to go to a couple theme parks this summer and had a blast. She really enjoys the spinning rides, but could take or leave the coasters at this point. She also enjoyed her first concert with her favorite band Guster. Chris and I have seen them many times before but this time was probably our favorite. Watching her enjoy the music and sing/dance along was amazing. She was not the only youngster there (though she was one of the younger ones) which was awesome to see and we will definitely be bringing her to another show again! In September Avery started preschool which she LOVES. She has really acclimated well to her school and has made lots of friends. It is so fun to see what she learns at school. Her school has done an amazing job fostering her learning and socialization with multiple field trips, but also community service by getting the kids involved in assisting in local charities. Avery continues to go to gymnastics and now is in the 3 year old class where she participates alone without an adult, just her teacher. She looks forward to gymnastics every week and she loves her time with her friends and teacher Miss Carol (who she has had since she was 18 months old). This year she wanted to be a few things for Halloween (shocker). First it was an astronaut, then it was an airplane (not a pilot...an airplane) and then finally Buzz Lightyear. She thinks it is awesome that he is an astronaut so we landed on that and thankfully it stuck. Oliver was of course Woody. We had already bought her wings to wear which worked out in our favor since Buzz has wings. So she wore both! Luckily they make Buzz and Woody pajamas so it was an easy costume, with the added bonus that she can continue to wear the pjs. Win/win for mom! And Avery loved being Buzz. She is still just as sweet, opinionated and strong willed as ever!
Oliver is just growing, growing, growing!! He is almost 23lbs and is 29" long. To give you an idea, he is on the verge of wearing 12 month clothing as a 6 month old baby. In fact today he wore a 12 month outfit and it fit him perfectly. He is in the 99th percentile for everything; following his sister's footsteps (and then some!). Oliver is one of the happiest babies I've ever known. He is always smiling and giggling and chatting. Rarely does he fuss and when he does you know something is really bothering him. He has been such a blessing to our family. Oliver's favorite person is by far his big sister, Avery. He follows her every move and wants soooo badly to run around with her. Every time he sees her his face lights up. Avery has really been enjoying being a big sister as well; she knows she can make him smile and she loves when he does because of her. Right now we are in the deep depths of teething...ugh. He finally has two teeth on the bottom gum but I swear more are making their way through because he is drooling buckets and chewing on everythingggggg. As you can tell from his size he loves food. He eye balls everything we eat and is beginning to explore table foods. Every day I am in awe of his sweet and loving personality...with a hint of destruction. He has such a sweet soul.
It has been so rewarding to watch the two kids interact and just love each other so much. I may not be the best mom every day. I may not always do things right. I may question myself constantly. The house may not be put together. But at least I can look at these two beauties, healthy and happy, and know I am doing something right.
PS the pictures are most definitely out of order.
