This summer has been CRAZY busy. It has been full of all kinds of fun adventures with our little sweetheart. Avery took a break from gym class this summer and finished up in June. She is starting up again in September and has been practicing her gymnastics in the mean time to show her teacher when she returns! There were a couple of "firsts" for Avery this summer too. We took her to the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island. We were lucky enough to stay a weekend with our friends Matt and Anja who live in RI. It was so much fun. Lots of really pretty animals. Avery loved the elephants and giraffes the most! It was a great zoo to bring her to. Avery also got to meet Moana at a friends birthday party. She was so excited and let Moana paint the "heart of Te Fiti" on her hand. When Moana asked her what her favorite color was, she exclaimed "Moana!"
This past 4th of July was Avery's first fireworks experience which she LOVED. She kept clapping and said the fireworks were "so fun!" We took Avery to Canobie Lake Park in July as well. She went on almost all of the kiddie rides she was allowed to go on, and rode on some of them multiple times. She couldn't get enough! She's our little dare devil and kept asking to go on the big rides (in a few more years kid!) Both Chris and I have gone to that park since we were kids and it was really cool to enjoy it and experience it through Avery. I think that is one of my favorite parts of being a mom; getting to experience life all over again through her eyes.
Avery also got to attend a couple of plays this summer at the theater in Manchester. They do short plays for children, mostly Disney plays. Avery saw Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and The Jungle Book. She really enjoyed them, especially the music. They were really cute and perfect length of time for little ones. Definitely a fun summer night thing to do! My parents also took her to see a Raffi concert (yes he still performs!) Avery loved watching his show and listening to his music.
This summer was also busy with my parents moving. Avery has loved the new house and being right on the water. She has already made herself at home there and loves her new big girl bed. Which by the way, was another step into toddlerhood this summer. Switching to a big girl bed. First week was fun (not) teaching her the new boundaries, but she has been great since. On occasion will empty her sock drawer then when we walk in she will exclaim "What happened!? It's a mess!" She's really too much sometimes. So she's been enjoying her time on the lake at my parents new house and at my in-law's campsite. Still my outdoorsy wildflower. Soaking up the sun all summer long and got some cute tan lines to prove it!
Another reason I have not blogged in awhile, along with the fact that we have been so busy, is because we are moving! We sold our house and bought a house, closing in October. We have been so busy getting the house ready to sell and keeping it "house showing" clean and tidy with a toddler, dog and cat. Not an easy task! We are very fortunate that we sold our house and found our new house pretty quickly and easily. We are staying in Goffstown, just looking for a home with more space! The move will be an adjustment period for our little one but we are so excited to show her our new home in October!
Avery has been such a fun little kid. This stage certainly has its moments that test my patience. But overall she is one very happy kid. One of my favorite things she does right now is mispronounces words. For example: "sob-ber" is spider, "dants" is ants, and "shun-shine" is sunshine. She also likes to tattle on herself. She will do something she's not supposed to then call my name and point to what she did. She will then usually follow it up by saying "what happened?" And then tell me what she did and ask to clean it up or "wash it" depending on what she did that was naughty. Speaking of naughty.. Avery has no problem telling Memphis that she was naughty if she has done something bad. She points her finger at Memphis and says "naughtyyyy" a few times (which is hysterical to watch) but always follows it up with a kiss on Memphis's nose. At the same time she loves to give Memphis treats and says she is a "good girl dog"
This summer she has had the catch phrase "Let's do this!" And even if it's something I don't want her to do, after hearing her say that with all of her excitement, it's reeeeeally hard to say no. And she knows it. Avery has been very interested in learning and singing songs this summer. Her favorites have been My Girl, the Itsy Bitsy Spider, Twinkle Twinkle, and random songs that Chris and I enjoy listening to. She can keep a tune pretty darn good for her age, and really sings the song not just yells the words. Avery also loves to read and has begun trying to read to us and says it's "Averys turn" She loves to read Brown Bear Brown Bear and Pout Pout Fish - both of which she pretty much knows all the words to. She's also really been into planets and planes and loves her books about those, as well as I Spy books. Avery loves to look for all of the different items on the pages. It's so fun!! We have had a couple of birthdays since her's in May but every time we sing happy birthday she always sings it to herself! The best part is she loves to wear her Moana dress from her birthday party and sometimes when she puts it on she will sing happy birthday to herself. You just can't make this stuff up! She genuinely makes us laugh everyday and she is so full of love, sweetness and silliness. We are very blessed!
